Dr. James Luoma, a native of Otsego, Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in1987. He worked for awhile in Ohio as a veterinarian before joining the Pennfield Animal Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan.
In 1994, he built the Southside Veterinary Clinic in Battle Creek and has continued to own and operate it since then. In 2001, he added a large addition to the building for boarding dogs and cats and called it the Southside Bed and Biscuit. Both facilities enjoy a reputation of caring, personal service.
Dr. Luoma lives nearby with his wife, Lori, and three children Jay, Jack and Morgan. Jay and Jack are also studying the Veterinary field. They have two dogs Gator and Izzy, They also have a large herd of Holstein dairy cows, and some beef cattle.
Sally is our receptionist and sometimes helps Dr. Luoma as well. Sally has fourteen dogs and a number of cats. She grew up with horses.
Angel helps Dr. Luoma treat patients. Previously she was the milk tester at Don Acres Farm (Dr. Luoma and his wife Lori’s Farm). She has four children and three dogs.
Casey is our receptionist/ weekend kennel assistant She has two dogs and two cats.
Izzy is our office mascot.
